In short: Trophle does not use your device location, show advertising, sell personal information, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites. The iOS app has no Trophle account or cloud gameplay sync. Optional sign-in exists only on the separate website.
1. Scope and operator
This policy explains how Ecopoiesis Consulting LLC, a New Hampshire limited liability company (“Ecopoiesis,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information through the Trophle iOS app and the website at trophle.com, including the puzzle archive and related account features (together, the “Services”).
2. iOS app and local data
The Trophle iOS app does not offer or require a Trophle account. It stores the following information locally on your device:
- the puzzle date, score, placed answers, and step results needed to preserve or display a completed puzzle;
- your current streak and most recent play date;
- sound and reminder preferences; and
- downloaded puzzle files or indexes cached for reliable or offline play.
The iOS app may retrieve puzzle files from trophle.com. Like other ordinary web requests, the hosting service may process technical information such as an IP address, user agent, request path, timestamp, and response status to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
If you enable a daily reminder, the iOS app asks Apple for notification permission and schedules the reminder locally on your device. Trophle does not operate a remote push-notification service for this reminder.
The website’s daily puzzle can also be played without signing in. Before account use, the website stores the completed daily result, streak dates, and sound preference in your browser’s local storage.
3. Optional website account and archive records
The Trophle website offers optional passwordless sign-in by email for account-based archive and progress features. When you use those features, Supabase processes the email address you provide, an account identifier, authentication links and session information, and related security information.
Depending on the account features you use, Trophle may store the following in Supabase:
- your email-linked account identifier and authentication record;
- current and longest streaks and recent play dates;
- archive puzzles opened or completed, play dates, scores, placed answers, and step results;
- which free archive samples are associated with the account; and
- whether the account has access to a purchased archive entitlement.
We use these website records to sign you in, preserve web progress, limit or provide website archive access, recognize website purchases, prevent abuse, and provide support. These records do not sync to the iOS app.
4. Purchases
If you buy archive access on the website, Stripe processes the checkout. Stripe—not Ecopoiesis—receives the full payment-card or bank-account details entered into its payment form. Trophle may send Stripe an internal account identifier and receive transaction status, product, amount, currency, and related transaction information needed to provide access, prevent fraud, issue support, and keep required business records.
If you buy archive access in the iOS app, Apple processes the purchase through the App Store. We do not receive your full payment credentials. Trophle receives transaction and entitlement information from Apple needed to provide or restore the purchased feature. Website archive access and iOS archive access are separate purchases and do not transfer between platforms.
5. Website analytics and hosting
The website uses or may use Plausible Analytics to understand aggregate activity, including page views, referral sources, browser or device type, approximate country, completed puzzles, and whether a play continued a streak. Plausible is configured without advertising cookies or persistent cross-site profiles. See Plausible’s Data Policy.
Vercel hosts the website and its payment-related server functions. Vercel and other infrastructure providers may process ordinary request, security, function, and error information needed to deliver and protect the Services. We use this technical information for operations and troubleshooting, not for advertising.
6. Maps, location, sharing, and sources
Trophle’s archive map displays the places associated with puzzle subjects. It does not request or use your device’s location and does not show where you are.
If you choose the iOS share control, Trophle creates a spoiler-free result for the system share sheet. You choose the receiving app or person, and that destination handles the shared material under its own privacy practices.
Puzzles may link to external scientific sources. When you open one, the destination website receives the ordinary information your browser sends to websites and applies its own privacy policy.
7. Service providers and disclosures
Depending on the features you use, service providers may include Apple for app distribution, notifications, and iOS purchases; Supabase for optional account authentication and account records; Stripe for website payments; Vercel for hosting and server functions; Plausible for aggregate website analytics; and Google for support correspondence.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect the Services or their users, investigate abuse or fraud, enforce our terms, or complete a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards.
8. What we do not do
- We do not request or use your device location.
- We do not require an account for the daily puzzle.
- We do not show third-party advertising.
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising.
9. Retention, choices, and deletion
Anonymous puzzle records remain in local app or browser storage until you clear that storage, reset the relevant data, or remove the app, subject to device and browser behavior. Removing the app normally removes its locally stored Trophle records from that device.
Account records are retained while your account remains active and as reasonably needed to provide the archive, maintain transaction records, secure the Services, resolve disputes, and comply with law. Payment processors and infrastructure providers retain information under their own policies and settings.
You may request access to or deletion of information controlled by Ecopoiesis through your optional website account by emailing info@ecopoiesisconsulting.com from the address associated with the account. We may verify the request before acting. Account deletion removes the website account and associated web game records we are not legally required to retain; limited transaction, fraud-prevention, opt-out, or legal records may be retained where necessary.
The iOS app has no Trophle account for Ecopoiesis to delete. Removing the app normally removes its locally stored Trophle records from that device.
10. Children
Trophle is designed for a general audience of adults and older learners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child under 13 created an account or provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
11. Security and international processing
We use reasonable measures designed to protect information, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Passwordless sign-in links should be treated as private. Service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Trophle changes. The current version will remain available at this URL with its effective date, and we will provide additional notice when required.
